The Handmaid’s Tale is an American dystopian-drama based on the 1985 novel of the same name by author Margaret Atwood. The series has captivated audiences for the past 2 seasons becoming one of the most and discussed dramas since the likes of Game of Thrones and Breaking Bad.
After the fall of the United States of America, it gave rise to the birth of a new nation, the Republic of Gilead. The new totalitarian regime rules the former US with an iron fist. Society is organized into a new hierarchical regime which brutally subjugates women. With fertility rates collapsing only 1 in 5 Women are fertile, these women are the most important members of society but are the most oppressed. Given the titles of “Handmaids”, they belong to the social elite of Gilead and are used to breed. June Osborn is renamed Offred when she is assigned to Gileadan Commander Fred Waterford. Determined to survive the atrocious world, June will stop at nothing to reunite with her daughter that was taken from her.

The series is a Hulu Original therefore is exclusive to the streaming service Hulu. Netflix’s rival has had some excellent releases in recent years with The Handmaid’s Tale arguably the biggest and best of the bunch. For anyone wishing to stream the series will have no choice but to sign up for a subscription to Hulu.
Are other regions streaming The Handmaid’s Tale?
There is currently no region with Netflix that is streaming The Handmaiden’s Tale.

In the United Kingdom, the series has been exclusively available to watch on Channel 4. Unlike some US shows Channel 4 is slightly behind on episodes. The first episode of Season 3 aired at 9:00 PM on June 9th, 4 days after the first three episodes arrived on Hulu in the US. Each subsequent episode will air on Sundays at 9:00 PM and will be available to stream on the catch-up service 40D.
In Australia episodes of The Handmaid’s Tale are available to stream on SBS Demand.
Fans in Canada have two separate services that can be used to stream The Handmaid’s Tale. Bravo and Crave are currently streaming episodes of Season 3. Crave has Seasons 1 and 2 available to stream unlike Bravo.
