Black Mirror season 5 is here but only has half the number of episodes as seasons 3 and 4. Will Black Mirror be returning later in 2019 with season 6 or will we have a long wait in store? Let’s take a look at when we could see the release date of Black Mirror season 6.
Netflix’s anthology series is still best in class and that’s despite multiple platforms piling in on the anthology format such as CBS All Access rebooting The Twilight Zone and Hulu with Into the Dark.
Early reviews seem to point at season 5 being well received with the second episode, Smithereens particularly well praised clocking in at 8.6/10 on IMDb.
Season 5 just released on Netflix globally on June 5th, 2019 with only three new episodes that are down from seasons 3 and 4 which both had 6 episodes a piece.
Has Black Mirror been renewed for season 6?

The writers even joked about a future cast member who they’d like involved in a future episode. Speaking to Yahoo, Charlie Brooker said that “Maybe we should cast someone like Barack Obama, he’d be good.”
Later they went onto say: “I imagine if we run out of ideas, we will stop.”
That suggests to us that as long as Netflix keeps giving them the funding and giving the thumbs up, Black Mirror will keep releasing.
Will there be another interactive Black Mirror episode?
In the interview with Yahoo, they spoke about any future interactive episodes that could be on the table. They specifically said that “The thing is, if you’re doing an interactive episode, it needs to justify itself. There needs to be a compelling narrative reason as to why you’re using that otherwise, it is just a gimmick.”

When will season 6 of Black Mirror be on Netflix?
Unfortunetely, we don’t quite know when season 6 of Black Mirror will be on Netflix just yet.
We’ve heard rumors that another three new episodes could arrive by the end of the year. That’d make sense given we’ve waited six months between Bandersnatch and season 5 and especially given it was a shorter season.
If we had to guess a worst-case scenario, it’d not be until the middle of 2020 until season 6 drops.
Clearly, everyone is already clamoring on social media for a sixth season having sped through all the new episodes in a single sitting.
