Canadian police say a man pretending to deliver a package used a concealed crossbow in an attempt to murder a 44-year-old woman.

The incident occurred in November, Peel Regional Police said Monday. Authorities are seeking the public’s help to identify the man who posed as a “delivery man” and is wanted for attempted murder.

Police say the suspect approached the home carrying a large package that contained a crossbow designed to hunt “large game such as moose and deer.”

When the victim opened the door, she and the suspect exchanged words before he shot her with the concealed weapon, police say.

Police have released a video showing the suspect waiting on the home’s porch and fleeing after the incident. The video appears to show one of man’s arms inside the box.

“The attack was meant to end the victim’s life,” The Washington Post quotes Peel Regional Police Superintendent Heather Ramore. “The victim suffered massive trauma that was both life-threatening and life-altering.”

Police believe a dark-colored pickup truck was involved in the incident. Photos of the truck, the suspect and an example of the weapon were released by police on Monday.
