Difference between VS1 vs VS2 Diamond Clarity

457

Under 10x magnification, a VS1 diamond has no noticeable inclusions and only minuscule, difficult-to-identify inclusions. A VS2 diamond, on the other hand, will contain eye-visible imperfections only 5% of the time or fewer and only in larger stones over 1 carat.

VS1 diamond Clarity

A VS1 diamond has no apparent inclusions, and the inclusions are nearly undetectable under 10x magnification. These diamonds account for less than 5% of all gem-quality stones. Eye-visible inclusions are only seen in VS2 diamonds around 5% of the time, and they are more common in stones exceeding 1 carat. VS2 diamonds, on the other hand, will have more natural qualities, such as being more prominent and easier to discern.

Is VS2 clarity sufficient?

The ideal blend of beauty and cost may be found in diamonds with a VS2 clarity rating. They are, in our opinion, the best diamond value. Purchasing a diamond with a lesser clarity grade but no apparent inclusions will free up funds to buy a larger, more brilliantly cut diamond.

The visibility of defects that develop naturally during the diamond’s growth is diamond clarity. The clarity scale spans from visible defects (also called inclusions) to seemingly faultless under magnification. Minor imperfections in VS diamonds, or barely included diamonds, are difficult to notice under 10 times magnification and nearly impossible to see with the naked eye.

Although most VS1 and VS2 diamonds are eye-clean, there are certain instances when imperfections can be seen. Step-cut diamonds, such as Asscher or emerald-cut, might prominently show them. If you’re seeking a diamond greater than 2 carats, VS1 is the best option because larger diamonds are easier to spot imperfections in. In larger stones, brilliant round cuts will cover natural traits easier. Therefore VS2 is a safe bet.

Which is the superior option?

The size, cut, and budget all play a role in buying a VS1 or VS2 diamond. A VS1 is your best bet if you are searching for a long-term investment. A VS1 clarity, most diamonds over 1 carat will be more eye-clean and have a higher monetary worth, especially if it’s a step-cut. However, if you value a reasonable price for a good clarity grade, a VS2 diamond offers the same brightness as a higher-quality diamond because its inclusions are invisible to the human eye.

Price of  VS1 and VS2?

If you’re looking for a high-quality stone on a budget, both VS1 and VS2 diamonds are excellent choices. VS2 and VS1 diamonds are much less expensive than diamonds graded higher on the clarity scale, despite having minor defects. Because it’s challenging to detect the difference between flawless and VS diamonds with the naked eye, these stones are such a bargain.

What Are Diamonds Grown in a Lab?

Diamonds are manufactured in highly controlled laboratory environments using advanced technical procedures that mimic the circumstances in which diamonds originate naturally in the Earth’s mantle, beneath the crust.

How Are Diamonds Grown in a Lab Made?

Lab grown diamonds are made of from the carbon seeds of pre-existing diamonds. Advanced technology, such as tremendous pressure and heat or a specific deposition technique called CVD, mimics the natural diamond production process. After being developed, some artificial diamonds generated through deposition may be subjected to pressure and heat treatment. In the same way, natural fancy colored diamonds occur when minute amounts of specific trace elements are present throughout the growing period of the generated diamond, artificial fancy colored diamonds do as well. The particular composition of trace elements in artificial diamonds, both white and fancy colored, may differ from natural diamonds. Only specialist technology capable of detecting minute changes in trace components and crystal development may identify an artificial diamond from a natural diamond.
