Narcos: Mexico Season 2: Everything We Know So Far
[ad_1]
Narcos and Netflix have been synonymous in recent years with the former becoming one of the most successful franchises on the streaming service to date. Even the sister show Narcos: Mexico has done a phenomenal job of showcasing how intriguing stories on the cartel captivate audiences. To which we cannot wait for the next season to arrive. Here’s everything we know so far on Narcos: Mexico Season 2.
Narcos: Mexico is a Netflix Original American-Mexican crime-drama and a spin-off series of the popular Narcos franchise. Created by Carlo Bernard, Chris Brancato, and Doug Miro the series is based on the real-life events involving the rise and fall of the Guadalajara Cartel and the death of a DEA agent that sparked the war on drugs. Equally as popular as the series that came before Narcos: Mexico was arguably one of Netflix’s best Originals to arrive in 2018.
What to expect from Season 2
As Walt Breslin, our narrator described it at the end of Season 1 the DEA are going to war with the Cartel, even if they don’t know it yet.
Felix Gallardo amongst others are now at the height of their power with their influence seeped deep into the corrupt political landscape of Mexico. Nigh upon untouchable, Felix’s protection is so fierce he even has the army bought and paid for. Unable to prosecute Felix by legal means the DEA is sending undercover agents to take the fight to the Cartel.
The new method of taking down the Cartel will be through lethal means. Whether they topple the names on their hit list by directly killing them or by taking out all those under, as long as the circulation of drugs is reduced and the power is taken away from men like Felix and the Cartels then the DEA may win the war. Sadly for anyone who knows the slightest on the war on drugs knows it was never going to be so simple.
The war will be bloody and dangerous. We can expect to see some of the most action-packed and exhilarating scenes from the series in Season 2.
Not only will Felix be fighting the DEA but he will have to watch his own back after betraying many of his ‘friends’ to rise to the top.
Who is in the cast of Narcos: Mexico Season 2?

We’re unsure if actress Alyssa Diaz will be returning to reprise her role as Mika Camarena the wife of Kiki.
Wagner Moura better known for his portrayal as Pablo Escobar has also not been confirmed to reprise his role. The actor did feature in a cameo appearance in the first season but was not seen again.
The only way Michael Peña will return to reprise his role as Kiki Camarena will be for any scenes with flashbacks. It’s unlikely the character will return though considering the major plot point surrounded Kiki’s death igniting the war on drugs.
Are there any images or stills for the upcoming season?
Gaumont International Television the production studio behind Narcos: Mexico has done a fantastic job of keeping things under wraps. Once filming has concluded and the series enters post-production we can expect to see some promotional material released for next season.
What is the production status of Season 2?
The second season is now deep into filming but images online of production have been scarce.
The indication that filming is still ongoing though is thanks to lead actor Diego Luna. On his Instagram, the actor has been posting some of the hotspots he has been visiting. Some of the places Diego Luna has visited are within Guadalajara City. The city is where a huge portion of the story takes place thus a massive location for filming.
We’re unsure on when filming will wrap up but we expect to hear official confirmation soon!
Will Season 2 have the same amount of episodes as Season 1?
According to information on the IMDb page, the series will definitely have of least eight episodes. It’s not very often Netflix doesn’t order a subsequent season with fewer episodes, therefore, Season 2 arriving with ten episodes is near enough guaranteed.
And the episode run times?
Second verse same as the first. The production studio behind Narcos: Mexico won’t reduce the run times of each episode. Episodes in the first season had a run time of around 55to 69 minutes. We expect Season 2 to follow suit.
Is there a trailer for Narcos: Mexico Season 2?
Currently, there isn’t a trailer available for the next season but we can expect a trailer to drop either in the later Summer or the Fall of 2019.
Narcos: Mexico Season 2 Release Date
