Ahead of the highly anticipated world premiere of Quentin Tarantino’s ‘Once Upon a Time in Hollywood‘ at the Cannes Film Festival, Sony Pictures has dropped the full trailer of the movie. The trailer introduces a vintage Leonardo DiCaprio and Brad Pitt in the Los Angeles of 1969. Tarantino celebrates the spirit of Hippy Hollywood in its full swing in the latest trailer.
The movie is Tarantino’s most secretive project so far which features Brad Pitt, Leonardo DiCaprio and Margot Robbie in the lead roles. The plot revolves around Brad Pitt and Leonardo DiCaprio’s respective characters, Cliff Booth and Rick Dalton. Rick is a washed out actor who is known for his Western flicks. Booth is his stunt double and longtime friend. The two men navigate their way through the ever-changing Hollywood as nobody cares about them any more.
“In this town, it can all change like that,” Dalton tells Booth in his characteristic drawl. The evolving city of Los Angeles and its inhabitants have nothing to do with the two, who represent the dying moments of Hollywood’s golden age. Tarantino himself describes the movie as “a story that takes place in Los Angeles in 1969, at the height of hippy Hollywood.”
Margot Robbie plays the character of the late actress Sharon Tate, who was murdered by followers of Charles Manson in August 1969 in her real life. ‘Once Upon a Time in Hollywood’ also features an ensemble cast including Al Pacino, Damian Lewis, Dakota Fanning, Emile Hirsch, Timothy Olyphant, Kurt Russell, Bruce Dern, and the late Luke Perry, among others.
Tarantino has shared a plea at the festival asking the Cannes audiences not to reveal any spoilers after the world premiere. “I love Cinema. You love Cinema,” Tarantino has written in the plea which appeared on the movie’s official Twitter handle. “It’s the journey of discovering a story for the first time. I’m thrilled to be here in Cannes to share Once Upon a Time … in Hollywood with the festival audience. The cast and crew have worked hard to create something original.”
The first teaser trailer of the movie was surfaced on March 20, offering first glimpses of DiCaprio, Pitt and Robbie’s characters. “I’ve been working on this script for five years, as well as living in Los Angeles County most of my life, including in 1969, when I was seven years old,” Tarantino said after the teaser launch, reports THR. “I’m very excited to tell this story of an L.A. and a Hollywood that don’t exist anymore. And I couldn’t be happier about the dynamic teaming of DiCaprio and Pitt as Rick and Cliff.”
