Release Date, Cast, Renewed or Cancelled

‘DC’s Legends of Tomorrow’ is an American superhero television series which has been developed by Greg Berlanti, Marc Guggenheim, Andrew Kreisberg, and Phil Klemmer, who are also the executive producers along with Sarah Schechter and Chris Fedak; Klemmer and Fedak serve as showrunners of the show, which is based on the characters of DC Comics. ‘Legends of Tomorrow’ airs on The CW and is a spin-off from ‘Arrow‘ and ‘The Flash‘ and exist in the same fictional universe.

The show has elements of action and science fiction as we see Rip Hunter, a time-traveling rogue, attempt to unite a ragtag group of heroes and villains in order to help him prevent an apocalypse that would not only have an effect on the earth but on time as a whole. Notably, this series is the fourth in line in the Arrowverse, which also includes ‘Supergirl‘. Comic series are usually set in shared universes since their stories are all interlinked.

Thus, if you are seeing any one of the shows, there is a good chance that you will be sucked into watching all the other relevant shows as well. Both Marvel and DC take this approach, and thus ‘Legends of Tomorrow’ has a massive fan base which includes fans of the other shows of the Arrowverse. Critics were also visibly impressed with the show and said, “The series delivers a sharp, enjoyable pilot that’s arguably the most attention-grabbing and entertaining from any of the current crop of superhero shows”.

Legends of Tomorrow Cast: Who is in it?

The main cast of ‘Legends of Tomorrow’ includes Victor Garber as Martin Stein or Firestorm. Stein is a nuclear physicist who is focused on transmutation. He merges with Jefferson ‘Jax’ Jackson, to form Firestorm. Jax’s character is played by Franz Drameh. Jax used to be a former high school athlete, set for a career as a pro, which got derailed due to an injury, leading him to live out his life as a mechanic.

Brandon Routh appears as Ray Palmer or Atom, a character who is capable of size manipulation. Arthur Darvill is seen as Rip Hunter, the rogue time traveler, and leader of the team. His goal is to defeat Vandal Savage. Caity Lotz appears as Sara Lance or White Canary. Her character is partially based on Black Canary who is Arrow’s love interest and eventually his wife in the comics.

Ciara Renée appears as Kendra Saunders or Hawkgirl, while Falk Hentschel plays Carter Hall or Hawkman. Naturally, both have similar powers and are fated to reincarnate together. Dominic Purcell appears as Mick Rory or Heat Wave, a career criminal and as his name suggests, an arsonist. Matt Letscher appears as Eobard Thawne or Reverse Flash, Flash’s archenemy and the leader of the Legion of Doom. Keiynan Lonsdale is seen as Wally West or Kid Flash, another speedster, while Matt Ryan appears as John Constantine, an English magician, and an occult detective. There are several other supporting characters who make the show very exciting.

In the upcoming season, most of the main cast is set to return, but Jes Macallan is now a series regular and appears as Ava Sharpe, the director of the Time Bureau. Things are bound to get more interesting.

Legends of Tomorrow Plot: What is it about?

The main plot of ‘Legends of Tomorrow’ starts off with Hunter going rogue after his entire family is murdered by Savage. Intending to stop Savage, he recruits Ray Palmer / Atom, Sara Lance / White Canary, Martin Stein and Jefferson “Jax” Jackson, who combine to form the hero Firestorm, Kendra Saunders / Hawkgirl, Carter Hall / Hawkman, Leonard Snart / Captain Cold, and Mick Rory / Heat Wave. Rip and the team discovers that the Time Masters are working alongside Savage (in his domination of the world in 2166) for a successful repulsion of a Thanagarian invasion. In the final episode, Leonard Snart sacrifices himself to destroy the Time Masters.

The story then continues and the Legends are plagued by the Legion of Doom, a time-traveling team led by Reverse Flash (Eobard Thawne). Eobard Thawne recruits Damien Darhk, Malcolm Merlyn, and Leonard Snart to find the Spear of Destiny of Biblical fame to alter their fates. The team is joined by Amaya Jiwe / Vixen, an African superhero from the Justice Society of America and Nate Heywood / Steel, a modern-day historian with the power to become solid metal.

In the following season, the team discover that they created anachronisms through time whilst defeating The Legion of Doom, Rip forms a Time Bureau to help fix the anachronisms and informs the legends of the demon Mallus, whose follower Nora Darhk has resurrected her father Damien, Amaya’s granddaughter Kuasa & Gorilla Grodd so that they can release Mallus from his prison by perverting history. The team is also joined by Zari Tomaz, a hacktivist from 2042 whose air-controlling amulet is connected to Amaya’s totem and Wally West / Kid Flash, a speedster formerly under the tutelage of the Flash.

The following season sees Constantine join the team and help them hunt down occult creatures who might pose a threat. They also hunt down the magical fugitives who have been scattered throughout the timeline as a result of the battle between the team and Mallus. Eventually, the team discovers that Neron, a demon who shares a history with Constantine is orchestrating the entire thing. Luckily they have help from Charlie, a shapeshifter, and Mona Wu, who can transform into a Kaupe, that is a malevolent Hawaiian spirit.

Hopefully, the show will maintain its entertaining tone in the upcoming season, and we cannot wait to see the direction in which it takes us.
