Julia Haart, Netflix’s My Unorthodox Life, demonstrates the journey of an ultra-Orthodox Jewish community member into a highly successful fashion executive. It makes for entertaining television.

 

The Moscow-born guru now tells her story on a new Netflix series, “My Unorthodox Life,” which premiered worldwide on July 14.

 

Haart spoke to The Times of Israel by telephone the day before the show’s premiere, saying that “When I first left,” he didn’t talk about his past. “I didn’t want people to find out about my past and crazy story.

 

Julia Haart splits her life in two. The first is the 42 years she spent living in an ultra-Orthodox Jewish Jewish community. She played the role of a devout wife, mother, and a chapter that was ‘all ‘about what was done to her.’ There is also the eight-year period that’s ‘about me.’ This includes leaving behind her isolated life, changing her name, and launching a high-heeled shoe line. She rose to become chief executive at Elite World Group, a top fashion talent agency.

 

 

After growing up as an ultra-Orthodox Jew, she was raised with four children, an arranged marriage, four children, no first dates, and no career. She also had no orgasms and no eating at non-kosher restaurants. At 35, Haart began to explore the possibility of moving away from her family. Slowly, she read books and watched movies and television. Haart, 43 years old, decided to leave her community and go on her own.

 

Julia Haart said that she realized that, even though my experience was not typical, many women have been told they are less than, made to feel inferior, or told they couldn’t work independently or go to work on their own. “And I realized that there is a responsibility for me here… It’s a story I must tell.”

 

 

 

I understand that you are determined to change the shapewear industry. What is that?

 

It’s called body from Haart and Lieu. What we did was create the first-ever shapewear that doesn’t look like any other shapewear. What does this mean? Now you know that shapewear comes in three colors, beige, black and white. No exceptions. There are no exceptions. There is a reason. It’s not because people don’t have the creativity, nor because they don’t have the time. The reason is purely logistical. The fabric color is a dye. What happens when you dye a material then stretch it? If you pull a brightly colored thing far, you will see the white lines. Shapewear is always black, beige, or white because you can’t put any pattern on it. It will stretch too much and look disgusting. We came up with different ways to add color to fabric, which we now call “Power Bond.” This material has dye-infused into it.

 

 

 

 

What is the status of Elite’s fashion brand e1972, which is in-house?

 

It was launched two weeks before the pandemic. We then closed it down because it seemed irresponsible to launch a brand during a pandemic. We are relaunching it in February with a virtual show featuring our avatars of virtual talent. You can scan your entire body right from your bed. We will make a garment that fits you exactly and send it to your home. We do not offer to size. I wouldn’t say I like the idea of people making a mockery of their bodies or making them feel bad about it. Everyone’s body is beautiful and should be celebrated and honored. No one should feel ashamed. It doesn’t matter what size you are.
