Netflix’s worldwide expansion has seen plenty of titles from such countries like Spain, India and South Korea. The only full Netflix Original Danish series to date The Rain just aired it’s highly anticipated second season and left fans wanting even more. But has Netflix renewed The Rain for a second season? Let’s find out!
The Rain is a Danish Netflix Original post-apocalyptic series created by Jannik Tai Mosholt, Esben Toft Jacobsen and Christian Potalivo. Post-apocalyptic titles have always been a popular concept and the Danish series definitely didn’t fail to impress upon the first outing. Filming took place across the Scandinavian nations of Denmark and Sweden, with cinematography handled by Jesper Tøffner and Rasmus Heise.
After virus carried by the rain wipes out most of the world’s population, only a handful on the population remains. To escape from the virus, Danish siblings Simone and Rasmus took shelter in a bunker for 6 years before eventually emerging. Choosing to search for their father, a scientist who left them in the bunker but never returned to his children. Traversing across the Denmark and Sweden the pair join a group of survivors, as they search for a safe place to hide from the rain and most importantly to find their father who just may have the cure.
The Rain Season 3 Netflix Release Date

Much like Netflix’s other foreign series in a similar genre called Dark, The Rain has been given another season which will be its final outing.

While we are expecting The Rain to receive a renewal, viewing figures are a massive factor to consider. This could’ve been the reason it was given a final season but the most likely reason is that the story is making its natural conclusion.

The Rain Season 3 Netflix Release Date
The release date for the third season of The Rain is dictated by if and when Netflix renews the series. Previously both seasons of The Rain have arrived in May 2018 and May 2019 respectively. So taking into consideration what we know from the first two seasons, The Rain Season 3 should arrive in May 2020.
Potential Release Date: May/June 2020
