Not many details regarding Kumail Nanjiani’s character in the upcoming ‘Men in Black’ spin-off ‘Men in Black: International are known. The trailer, however, gives a glimpse of Nanjiani’s character Pawny, a pint-sized alien who joins forces with Agent M (Tessa Thompson) and Agent H (Chris Hemsworth). Emma Thompson returns as her iconic character Agent O in the movie, while Liam Neeson appears as the dubious character High T, who is the head of the MIB’s London arm. The plot centers on a mysterious spy who infiltrate the nerve center of the agency. Directed by F. Gary Gray from a script by Art Marcum and Matt Holloway, ‘Men in Black: International’ hit theaters on June 14, 2019.

5. Stuber (2019)

‘Stuber‘ is an upcoming action-comedy from 20th Century Fox starring Kumail Nanjiani and Dave Bautista. The plot revolves around a naive Uber driver Stu (Nanjiani) and a gritty cop Vic (Bautista) whose paths cross during a bloody cat and mouse game between the cops and a band of rogues. Stu is keen to maintain his track record as a five-star rated driver while Vic is determined to hunt down the criminals at any cost. When he hires Stu’s car, the unlikely pair are thrown straight into a melting pot of bullets, gangsters, explosions and flying cars. Iko Uwais, Natalie Morales, Betty Gilpin, Jimmy Tatro, and Karen Gillan play other major roles in the movie. ‘Stuber’ is directed by Michael Dowse from Tripper Clancy’s script. The movie is slated for a July 12, 2019 release.

4. Silicon Valley (2014 – )

HBO’s hit comedy series ‘Silicon Valley‘ features Kumail Nanjiani alongside Thomas Middleditch, Zach Woods, Martin Starr, Amanda Crew, Jimmy O. Yang, and Suzanne Cryer. Debuted on April 6, 2014, the series went on to become one of the most successful comedy series of the network and earned five Outstanding Comedy Series nominations at the Emmys and two Golden Globe nominations in the Best Television Series – Musical or Comedy category.

The plot revolves around the young entrepreneur Richard Hendricks (Middleditch) and his data-compression startup called ‘Pied Piper.’ The Pied Piper team consists of Dinesh Chugtai (Nanjiani), a programmer and the Java wizard in the team, Nelson “Big Head” Bighetti (Josh Brener), Richard’s best friend who works for Hooli, and Bertram Gilfoyle (Martin Starr), the network engineer of Pied Piper who is popular for his merciless pranks. ‘Silicon Valley’ is created by Mike Judge, John Altschuler and Dave Krinsky. The fifth and last season of the series will debut in late 2019 on HBO, reports Deadline.

3. The Voyage of Doctor Dolittle (2020)

‘The Voyage of Doctor Dolittle‘ is a live-action/CG hybrid comedy based on the popular children’s book series by Hugh Lofting. The plot revolves around the titular character Doctor Dolittle (Robert Downey Jr.) who develops an extraordinary skill to communicate with animals. Enthralled by the feat, the doctor starts treating animals instead of human patients. But the hasty decision of the eccentric doctor brings a lot of problems along with it. Kumail Nanjiani plays the role of Plimpton the ostrich in the movie. The other cast members include Rami Malek as Chee-Chee the gorilla, Octavia Spencer as Dab-Dab the duck, John Cena as Yoshi the Polar Bear, Marion Cotillard as Tutu the fox, Emma Thompson as Polynesia the parrot, Selena Gomez as Betsy the giraffe, Tom Holland as Jip the dog, and Ralph Fiennes as Barry the tiger. ‘The Voyage of Doctor Dolittle’ is directed by Stephen Gaghan from a script he co-wrote with Thomas Shepherd. The movie is lined up for a January 17, 2020 release.

2. The Lovebirds (2020)

Kumail Nanjiani reunites with his ‘The Big Sick’ director Michael Showalter in the upcoming romantic comedy ‘The Lovebirds.’ Issa Rae, who is known for ‘Insecure,’ plays the female lead opposite Nanjiani. According to Variety, the movie tells the story of a quarreling couple who are on the verge of a tumultuous breakup. But when the pair entwine with a messy murder mystery, they start to identify the beauty of tiny things in their life together. But they realize the magic of their relationship rather late. Najiani also serves as executive producer along with Rae and Showalter, who directs the movie from a script by Aaron Abrams, Brendan Gall and Martin Gero. ‘The Lovebirds’ comes to theaters on April 3, 2020.

1. The Eternals (2020)


Kumail Nanjiani will be seen alongside Richard Madden and Angelina Jolie in Marvel’s upcoming action-comedy ‘The Eternals.’ The plot centers on the extraterrestrial beings called The Eternals, who are created as a result of the advanced genetic experiments of human beings. In the new age, The Eternals are responsible for protecting Earth from interstellar attacks from creatures called Deviants. While the details of Nanjiani’s character are under the tight wraps, Madden and Jolie reportedly play two Eternals named Ikaris and Sersi. Based on the comic book series of the same name created by Jack Kirby in 1976, the movie is directed by Chloe Zhao (‘The Rider) from a screenplay written by Matthew and Ryan Firpo. ‘The Eternals’, which kick starts the fourth phase of the Marvel Cinematic Universe after the grand culmination of the third phase with the film ‘Avengers: Endgame‘, is expected to release in 2020.
