The troubled Woodstock 50th anniversary music festival planned for August has been officially called off, entertainment publication Variety reported on Wednesday, citing multiple sources.

Variety said that stakeholders and vendors were notified by organizers on Wednesday that the festival, intended to mark the famed 1969 festival of peace and music, would no longer take place.

Organizers for the planned three-day event did not immediately return a request for comment.
