Luckily, several great shows are nominated for the Emmys in the upcoming 2022 season. These shows include the likes of Modern Family, Stranger Things, Veep, Big Little Lies, and Succession. These are all excellent shows that you should watch.
Succession
Earlier this month, Succession won the Creative Arts Emmy Awards for Outstanding Drama Series and Writing for a Drama Series. It also received nominations for Best Actor in a Drama Series, Best Supporting Actor in a Drama Series, Best Casting in a Drama Series, Best Directing in a Drama Series, and Best Adapted Screenplay.
“Succession” stars Matthew Macfadyen, Brian Cox, Sarah Snook, Jeremy Strong, and Kieran Culkin. The show follows a well-to-do family that owns a global media company. It is about generational wealth and family dynamics. The show’s cast also has several actors with theatrical backgrounds.
At the 71st and 72nd Primetime Emmy Awards, Jesse Armstrong won the awards for Writing for a Drama Series. He has also been nominated for an Oscar. The show won the BAFTA Award for Best International Program earlier this year.
The series also earned several acting nods, including two for Brian Cox and one for Jeremy Strong. Logan Roy, played by Cox, is the Roy family’s patriarch and ailing. His four children, Siobhan, Kendall, Connor, and Roman, are vying for control of Waystar Royco. They foil the plot of a family member.
In the episode “The Death of Waystar Royco,” the Roy family conspires to steal what they think is theirs. The attack had the internet abuzz.
Succession has been nominated for several awards in the past, including four Emmys and a Golden Globe. The show was also nominated for the Writers Guild Award for a Drama Series.
Grownups
Despite HBO’s recent dominance of Emmy nominations, Netflix scored a strong performance in the 2020 race. The streaming outlet led all other platforms with 160 nominations and ended the network’s 17-year reign as the dominant force. However, several shows still need to receive nominations in the main categories.
Spider-Man: No Way Home stars Tom Holland and Tobey Maguire and tells an intergenerational adventure story. The film was praised by critics and sparked the most interest from the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences. It is a good bet that the film will win the Best Movie for Grownups award.
The other major award-winner was “The Crown,” which earned a tie for the most nominations for a television series. Its star, Gillian Anderson, won Best Actress in a Leading Role for her work in the show. It also tied for the most nominations in several other categories.
The Movies for Grownups Awards, which will be broadcast on PBS in March, will be given out on March 18. M4Gs have only selected the eventual Oscar winner four times in the past. That’s a number that seems likely to change. Only last year, the M4Gs were awarded only for films that had yet to be released. But last year’s award included a TV category for the first time.

The show has won numerous awards, including the Best Television Show at the Golden Globes. The Modern Family has received an astounding 80 Primetime Emmy Awards. And the show is still going strong. The show has been renewed for two more seasons.
Some have criticized the show’s success. Some even think it’s the death of network television. Others have credited the show with inspiring other family comedies.
The show has been nominated for the best writing for a comedy series award. This was not a particularly exciting award to receive.
The same cannot be said of the award for Best Picture Editing for a Comedy or Drama Series. That prize went to HBO’s “Silicon Valley.”
The show has been nominated for numerous other awards, but the Emmys aren’t the only place where the show has been recognized. It has won multiple awards at the American Film Institute, the Screen Actors Guild, and the Golden Globes.

Big Little Lies
Unless you’ve lived under a rock, you’ve probably heard about the HBO miniseries “Big Little Lies.” The series premiered in June 2017 and starred Nicole Kidman, Reese Witherspoon, Zoe Kravitz, and Shailene Woodley. The series is based on the Liane Moriarty novel of the same name and deals with the struggles of marriage and parenting.
At last weekend’s Creative Arts Awards, “Big Little Lies” won three awards. It took home the prize for Outstanding Limited Series, the Best Director for Zoe Vallee, and a supporting actress award for Laura Dern. It’s no surprise that “Big Little Lies” has been a big contender for the Emmys. The show was nominated for various other categories, including Best Performance by an Ensemble in a Drama Series and Best Limited Series.
While it’s true that the first season of “Big Little Lies” won many of the Emmys, there are plenty of reasons to expect it to do even better in 2020. The show has an excellent ensemble cast, which typically leads to success. There are also some other great shows competing this year, including Netflix’s “Orange is the New Black,” USA’s “The Sinner,” and FX’s “Fargo.” However, Big Little Lies may not be the only prestige series to be kicked to the sidelines in 2020.
The cast of “Big Little Lies” has a strong track record of winning awards for their performances. In addition to the Emmys, the show was nominated for two Critics Choice Awards. It also won the coveted Golden Globe for best miniseries. But the show could have done better in more competitive drama categories.
Veep
During its seventh and final season, the HBO comedy Veep earned nine Emmy nominations. Veep is a political satire that follows a fictional Vice President named Selina Meyer. It was created by Armando Iannucci and is based on the British series The Thick of It.

The show’s executive producer, Stephen Mandel, directed its last episode. The final episode received favorable reviews from the cast and audience. The series was also hailed for its supporting cast.
Veep is nominated in the following categories: best comedy, best comedy writing, supporting comedy actress, and supporting comedy actor. Among the nominees are Tony Hale, Peter MacNicol, Anna Chlumsky, and Anthony Carrigan.
Veep has been nominated for the Golden Globe Award seven times. Veep is one of the past decade’s most acclaimed and critically acclaimed shows. Stranger Things
Usually, the most critical Emmy award is the award for Outstanding Drama Series. In the case of Stranger Things, they had some impressive nominations. A few other categories were thrown into the mix, too. However, they were shut out of the big ones.
For instance, they received no mention in the nomination for the best writing on a drama series. On the other hand, they won different awards for their stunts, visual effects, and sound mixing.
Stranger Things has been nominated for 13 Emmys this year. They received nods for the best production design of a narrative period or fantasy program, music supervision, period and character makeup, and editing of a comedy or drama series. In addition, they received nominations for the best directing of a drama series and the best prosthetic makeup of a comedy or drama series.
They were also nominated for the best single-camera picture editing of a drama series and the best sound mixing of a comedy or drama series. They also received the honor of being the first Netflix series nominated in the technical category for the best use of special effects. But they didn’t get a mention in the Best Actor in a Drama Series category.
