‘The Gong Show’ is an amateur talent contest put out by Sony Pictures Television that initially premiered on NBC’s daytime schedule from June 14, 1976, through July 21, 1978, and in first-run syndication from 1976 to 1980 and 1988 to 1989. The series was revived in 2017 for exclusive broadcast on ABC, which is where it airs currently. The revival first premiered on June 22, 2017.
The show was originally created and produced by Chuck Barris, who also served as the host. ‘The Gong Show’ is currently executive produced by Will Arnett and hosted by Mike Myers under the guise of Tommy Maitland, a fictional character.
